How to use Type Sets in KWIKPRINT.jpg

Here is an example of how we set 4 lines of Hot Gold Foil Stamping Letters using Kwikprint Letter Sets in your mulitline typeholder.

When the typehead is cold.  Flip up the type head and lock it in place.  Place a piece of solid 12 pint strip material or aluminum at the bottom of the type head. We colored the strip Green in the photo.  Also have an aluminum bar available for the top of the type.

This strip martial at the Bottom of the type is very important.  It is important the type does not sit so close to the heater and get over heated before the other lines even begin to get warmed up.  We find this helps a lot in a more even heat distribution of the heat and in the end a better impression.

Making up of the form entails building out each line to the exact same dimension in length.  The form should be so spaced and so justified that all parts of the form will "lift" when it is locked up and that the parts (letters and spaces) will not work up during printing.  In all forms containing a number of lines of type, some allowance should be made for type squeeze.   When the jaws of the Kwikprint Machine exerts pressure against the form in the type head, the form will be compressed just a little more than can be indicated by pressure of the fingers when one was setting the type.  No definite rule can be given for this, but by observation and experience,  one soon gets the 'feel" of a form and will know how much allowance to make for type squeeze.

One need to make sure that all the material in the form is solid and well justified and Squarely On Its Feet, before completing the assembly of the form.  It is our practice in our ship to use a planer and mallet in hand and gently tap the top of the planer with the mallet.  Only a light tap is necessary .  This helps insure all letters are on there feet and nothing is sticking up.

The Kwikprint Multi-Line type head has a series of staggered screws  in each jaw that will help hold individual lines in place.  One needs to make sure that during the Hot Stamping process the letters stay locked up so they don't fallout during the printing process.

Type heads for the Kwikprint came in various sizes:

1 x 5 3/4     1 x 9    2 x 5 3/4       3 x 5 3/4       2 x 9
